Well, Allison bumped her head *right* where her cyst is (on her right eyebrow). It swelled up and at some point got infected, and isn't going away on its own. So, we took her to the doctor who recommended antibiotics. This child has been on antibiotics three times this year already. We're debating whether to take her in to get a second opinion about removing the cyst on her eyebrow. This is the third time she's banged it, although it's the first time it's been infected. If it happens again, I'll take her in to see the wonderful plastic surgeon that stitched up Cameron's forehead.
Now, in the same week, Allison managed to scrape the back of her hand and scrape her leg. She's covered in bandaids. And every few minutes, she declares "Ow, I hurt my ". She's become sensitive to every little thing that touches her and needs 100 boo boo kisses a day.
This is has been the week of doctors. I had to take the kids to my chiropractic appointment due to scheduling changes, and the kids were *convinced* she was going to take the baby out. On Friday, I need to go in to receive my ever-so-anticipated Rhogam shot... that makes 4 doctor visits in one week, including a trip to the hospital with the kids in tow. Cameron really wanted to know why we were at the hospital, but every time I explained that I needed to pick up a shot to give to my doctor, he got a blank stare on his face, then asked again "why are we at the hospital?" Allison just thought it was cool that her yells echoed down the long white hospital hallways.
Wheee! Can I have another E ticket please?
We are now back from a week long vacation in Northern California. It was one of the most needed vacations our family has taken. The children travelled wonderfully and we took our time to enjoy the sights with minimal stress. We all slept very well; Allison even took a nap every day but one. We got to visit with some friends and see our old stomping grounds. We also managed to eat about twice as much as we normally do and visit nearly every kind of food source available in the East Bay. I don't think I was actually hungry all that often. My dad would be proud!
Now we're home, but in a holding pattern, waiting to have our floors done. So everything is still pretty much packed and most of the kids toys and books are still in boxes. Hopefully, by the end of next week we'll be able to start putting everything back together.
The house seems so much bigger and welcoming without carpet. The floors are in wonderful shape. None of the wood has to be replaced. We bought a rug to put down so the kids would have a place to play, but they don't seem to mind the bare floor and plunker down right on the bare wood anyway. Yoshi has "found" a few exposed staples for us. Yay for bandaids! And the floor in the kids room was covered in old newspapers from 1970 (under the carpet), so the wood in there is pristine. It's hard to believe that this carpet has been in this house for 33 years. Eeek.
