103-106 degrees????

The news just said that it's going to be between 103 and 106 today. What the.....???? It's the middle of October. Well, I've turned up the AC and holed up in the house with the kids. I'm not going out there!

Still no baby... but prelabor has pretty much stopped. I've had two days of no contractions or much discomfort at all. So I'm not as tired as before. Nor am I as eager to get the baby out. If I can feel like this until the end of the pregnancy, I don't mind so much if the baby is on time or not. Baby still kicks around like mad, trying to use her feet to kick her way out of my rib cage, and she gets the hiccups several times a day. So, I know she's doing good in there. As long as I can get plenty of down time during the day, I'm in a much better mood. I think the kids and Yoshi are very thankful for that :)

Come Out Baby!

week_38.jpg Two solid weeks now of on and off contractions. Sunday and Monday we were thinking the baby would be coming, but then everything stopped. I went to the doctor yesterday and I'm 3cm dialated and 60% effaced. Baby is sitting very low. Yet she keeps kicking me in the ribs. How big is this baby going to be? Cameron was 6lbs 15oz, Allison was 8lbs 1oz, maybe this baby 8lbs - 9lbs? I feel like I'm carrying around a bowling ball in my belly, it's so heavy. Come out baby!

I guess my situation is not so unusual.

Taken from a topics-az.parenthood.com:

"Contractions of the uterus occur throughout the second half of pregnancy. These mild contractions, called Braxton-Hicks contractions after the doctor who first described them, are the way the uterus exercises and becomes stronger and more coordinated in its actions. The frequency and intensity of these contractions increases towards the end of pregnancy, especially in women who have had babies before. They may become quite regular for several hours at a time, but then instead of getting closer together and stronger, they become farther apart and milder and finally go away. This can be very frustrating and confusing for the woman and her partner. The common description of this phenomenon as "false labor" doesn't usually do much to improve the situation for them. Clearly there is something real, not false, going on here. The uterus is getting stronger and more efficient so that the labor, when it finally does get serious, will probably be faster than the first one. Especially since the first few centimeters of dilation have already happened!"

Well, this describes my previous two pregnancies exactly. I suppose I am not so unusual then. I must reserve myself to 2-3 more weeks of this. *relaaaaax* *breathe....*

Tick, tick, tick, tick - kabloom!

Went to the doctor today for my 36 week checkup to find that the baby is "right there", I'm just about 2cm dialated and the baby is guestimted at 6lbs. right now. This baby can come "any day". That's what they said with Cameron. That's what they said with Allison. For 3 weeks. Will it be the same with this baby? Will I be "in labor" for 3 weeks - then KABLOOM! ? Or will the baby come early with a little less dramatics and fireworks?
I was a little worried yesterday. Had about 3 hours of a little more distinct contractions and back/hip pain. I've felt "different" for a few days - kinda nauseated, kinda tired. I knew I wasn't in labor, but it was a wake up call that things are moving along. The time is getting close. This baby will be here soon. Let's just hope I'm not having this same conversation with myself 2 weeks after my due date.
